Sant Elm, Mallorca

Sant Elm is beautiful and off the beaten track…

This Mallorcan village is superb! Its idyllic beach with turquoise waters and shallow shores is a foodie hotspot. Gaze out at the uninhabited island of Sa Dragonera and wander around the boutiques on Carrer Cala en Bassett before stopping for lunch.

I love the Balearic Islands. I’ve been going since I was a kid yet there is always more to discover and each is so different. Whether it’s historical and cultural landmarks or admiring the local artisan’s fashion and interiors.

Sant Elm is a fishing village that still feels local in the south-west corner of Mallorca. It’s off the beaten track with few hotels and a selection of villas.

You can day trip (as we did) to the pretty sandy beaches for a seafood lunch, walk the La Trapa nature reserve, and catch a boat to Sa Dragonara to see the natural fauna and flora. Waterspouts are available including a kayak and picnic trip. As it is at the foot of the Tramontana mountains hikers and cyclists love it!

You expect seafood on the coast but the restaurants here are seriously chic beachfront eateries. I’ve only eaten in a couple but it was hard to choose.

  • Es Moli - value for money and quality

  • Calaconills - seafood platters sitting next to the sea

  • Tigy’s - pizza perfection but they serve so much more!

  • Na Caragola - local/ Mediterranean

Stay at:

  • Universal Aquamarin - a bright, beautiful beach club hotel with a pool, spa, and sun terrace overlooking the beach.

  • Just Experience Mallorca - a super stylish gem with a rooftop pool, communal BBQ - a way of life!
